HCLTech wins Neste’s AI-led efficiency overhaul

ESPOO, FINLAND AND NOIDA, INDIA — HCLTech has been selected as Neste’s long-term strategic IT partner for an AI-led efficiency transformation — covering IT service consolidation, agile scalable technology capability, data analytics, AI-enabled monitoring, and secure edge computing — as the Finnish renewable energy company, the world’s leading producer of sustainable aviation fuel and renewable diesel, executes a company-wide performance improvement program.

According to a press release, the partnership was announced June 24, 2026; HCLTech shares surged approximately 2% on the news.

Neste mandates IT consolidation and AI monitoring for multi-continent renewable operations

Neste — EUR 19 billion in 2025 revenue, targeting 6.8 million tons of annual renewable fuel production capacity by 2027, operating across three continents and nearly 1,000 fuel stations — is running the HCLTech engagement as a component of a broader performance improvement program rather than a standalone IT contract, giving the mandate scope that extends beyond infrastructure rationalization to operational transformation.

HCLTech’s remit spans both layers of the modern IT transformation contract: the simplification layer (consolidation, IT landscape rationalization, cost reduction) and the new capability layer (AI-enabled monitoring, secure edge computing, data analytics) — the full spectrum that separates an efficiency transformation from a conventional outsourcing renewal.

The partnership delivers IT service consolidation across Neste’s distributed production infrastructure, where AI-enabled monitoring and secure edge computing generate measurable efficiency value at the scale of an industrial renewable fuel operation rather than a single facility.

“As part of our ongoing efforts to improve performance and simplify our IT landscape, this partnership plays a key role in strengthening our core IT capabilities,” said Eeva Sipilä, CFO, Neste.

HCLTech’s energy and manufacturing unit deploys $14.7Bn delivery infrastructure for Neste

Neste’s production footprint — three continents, renewable production at near-gigaton scale, nearly 1,000 fuel stations — generates the distributed real-time operational intelligence environment where AI-enabled monitoring and edge computing deliver industrial-scale efficiency returns, the operational context that makes Neste a high-profile mandate for HCLTech’s energy and manufacturing sector group.

HCLTech brings $14.7 billion in consolidated revenues (12 months to March 2026) and 227,000+ employees across 60 countries to the engagement — the global delivery infrastructure required to manage Neste’s multi-continent IT operations at the service level and scale the Finnish company’s performance improvement program demands.

The Neste announcement landed on the same June 24 date as HCLTech’s broadened Nokia partnership — a double-win news event that reinforced the market’s 2% share price response, signaling that the energy and manufacturing sector pipeline is adding to HCLTech’s growth alongside its established telecom mandates.

For Indian IT outsourcing operators, HCLTech’s Neste win documents the extension of offshore AI-enabled transformation mandates into the renewable energy and sustainable aviation fuel sector — connecting India’s engineering and AI capability base to the energy transition infrastructure European industrial clients are building under regulatory and commercial pressure.

“This partnership is an important step in strengthening Neste’s IT service delivery and supporting a more efficient operating model,” said Ajay Bahl, Chief Growth Officer, Energy and Manufacturing, HCLTech.

For BPO and IT outsourcing operators tracking industrial sector mandates, the Neste engagement confirms that AI-enabled monitoring and edge computing are now procurement criteria in energy sector IT transformation — and that the operators who can demonstrate production-environment AI delivery credentials, not just enterprise IT consolidation capability, are winning the mandates.
