BDO UK taps MindBridge to power AI-driven audits

LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM and ONTARIO, CANADA — BDO UK has partnered with MindBridge to deploy artificial intelligence and data analytics across its audit operations, accelerating the firm’s transition toward data-led methodology at scale.
According to a press release, the collaboration follows a successful pilot during which BDO UK evaluated the technology before committing to a firm-wide deployment.
MindBridge’s software will be applied to general ledger testing, helping audit teams detect anomalies, patterns, and transactions that warrant closer scrutiny. BDO UK operates 17 locations and employs approximately 8,000 audit professionals across the United Kingdom.
AI tools to reshape general ledger testing
MindBridge’s audit and assurance platform analyzes full transaction populations to surface anomalies and flag higher-risk entries, replacing conventional sample-based testing with a managed analytics model that covers the entire general ledger.
With routine data review automated, BDO UK’s audit teams can redirect capacity toward professional judgment, complex estimates, and higher-risk areas — the kind of reallocation that AI-powered delivery makes possible at scale.
The deployment will roll out firm-wide ahead of year-end engagements, following a pilot that BDO UK deemed ready for full adoption.
“We chose to partner with MindBridge because of its strong, proven analytics capabilities. This partnership will transform how we deliver audits — making them even more data-led and enabling richer insight from large, complex data sets,” said Emily Howard, Audit Optimisation (Digital) Director at BDO UK.
Partnership extends MindBridge’s BDO network reach
The deal extends MindBridge’s footprint within the BDO global network, which already counts BDO Norway and BDO South Africa as clients. BDO UK will add MindBridge to BDO Advantage, its integrated audit technology platform, deepening a suite of analytics tools already in use across the practice.
The partnership positions MindBridge as the primary AI-driven analytics layer within BDO UK’s audit delivery model.
“BDO UK has a clear vision for the future of audit — combining deep professional expertise with advanced technology to strengthen quality and deliver greater value to clients. We are excited to support that vision and help BDO UK accelerate its data-driven audit approach,” said Sarah McGinnity, General Manager of Audit and Assurance Solutions at MindBridge.
The BDO-MindBridge partnership reflects a broader push by major accounting firms to integrate AI into core audit workflows as regulators press for stronger data-driven assurance. Rival firms including PwC, Deloitte, and KPMG have each launched proprietary AI audit tools over the past two years.
BDO’s choice of a specialist vendor over in-house development follows a path taken by several mid-tier firms outsourcing analytics to specialist vendors for faster deployment. BDO operates across 164 countries with a global workforce of more than 115,000 professionals.
