Accenture acquires German auto software firm AOX

VILLINGEN-SCHWENNINGEN, GERMANY — Global professional services giant Accenture has announced its acquisition of AOX, a German embedded software specialist.
While financial terms remain undisclosed, the acquisition is expected to enhance Accenture’s ability to deliver software solutions globally, not only in automotive but also in other embedded software-intensive sectors such as medical technology.
Strategic expansion of automotive tech
The acquisition brings AOX’s team of over 50 skilled professionals into Accenture’s Industry X engineering division.
With expertise spanning high-performance computing, real-time operating systems, and scalable architectures, AOX supports major German carmakers and suppliers in accelerating go-to-market strategies and reducing software faults.
“As part of Accenture, we can create exciting new opportunities for our employees and provide the expertise and talent our clients need for major transformation projects. This will help them tackle complex software challenges in the concept phase of products and drive innovation throughout the entire lifecycle,” said Rainer Oder, co-founder and CEO of AOX.
AOX is headquartered in Villingen-Schwenningen with additional offices in Karlsruhe, Rosenheim, and Wetzlar.
AOX’s software development expertise
AOX specializes in developing complex system architectures and high-performance software that power modern vehicles. Their expertise in high-performance computing and real-time operating systems will complement Accenture’s existing automotive technology portfolio.
“Software expertise is becoming the dominating factor in the auto market,” said Christof Horn, who leads the automotive practice of Accenture’s digital engineering and manufacturing service, Industry X, in Europe.
“This is where AOX excels. The company’s expertise in high-performance computing, real-time operating systems and the entire software development process makes them an ideal addition to Accenture. The AOX team will become another pillar of the automotive technology powerhouse Accenture has been building over the past years.”

Accenture, with its workforce of 774,000 professionals serving clients across more than 120 countries, sees this acquisition as a strategic enhancement to its automotive services. The company’s Industry X division has been steadily building its automotive technology capabilities over recent years.
“Accenture’s scale and service portfolio will enable us to deliver software solutions to clients globally in the automotive industry and other embedded software-heavy sectors such as medical technology,” Oder added.
