WELLINGTON, NEW ZEALAND — Global professional services giant Accenture has announced its agreement to acquire Solnet, a New Zealand-based IT services provider known for its comprehensive technology consulting for government and private sectors.

The acquisition is set to add over 100 Solnet technologists to Accenture’s workforce, expanding its Cloud First capabilities within the region.

Solnet, headquartered in Wellington, has established a robust portfolio of consulting, solutions development, and managed services.

This move promises to strengthen Accenture’s infrastructure engineering offerings in New Zealand, propelling organizations on their path to digital resilience and growth.

Accenture’s global lead of Cloud First, Andy Tay, highlighted the acquisition’s benefits, combining Solnet’s local expertise with Accenture’s extensive cloud, data, and AI resources. “Cloud is the most powerful tool for organizations to scale rapidly and navigate change. Solnet brings its extensive experience and strong client relationships.”

Mark Botherway, Solnet’s managing director, expressed enthusiasm for the new growth horizons this partnership will open for their employees and clients.

“For 20 years, we’ve built an impressive team of technically skilled and deeply experienced talent. Joining Accenture now gives our people global growth opportunities to broaden their exposure and career potential,” Botherway went on to say.

The acquisition, pending customary closing conditions, is expected to close by the end of 2023, marking a significant leap for Accenture in fortifying its digital core and service offerings across New Zealand’s diverse industry landscape.

Accenture topped the Time Doctor OA500, an index of the world’s top 500 outsourcing firms, with $61.6 billion in annual revenues for fiscal year 2022.
