Accenture explores AI applications beyond technical fields

MANILA, PHILIPPINES — Accenture, a global professional services firm, is actively exploring the potential of generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) across various business functions beyond its core technology operations.
During the pilot episode of the new podcast “Promptly Speaking” by IT & Business Process Association of the Philippines (IBPAP), Ambe Tierro, Managing Director and Technology Lead of Accenture in the Philippines, discussed the expansive role of artificial intelligence (AI) in the modern workplace.
The conversation, led by IBPAP President and CEO Jack Madrid, delved into how Accenture is pioneering the application of AI beyond traditional tech roles, venturing into areas such as human resources, finance, and workplace services.
Tapping into the transformative power of AI, Tierro shared insights into Accenture’s innovative approach, emphasizing the technology’s potential to revolutionize various aspects of business operations.
“We have so many use cases of how we can apply AI,” Tierro remarked, highlighting the company’s commitment to leveraging AI to enhance efficiency and service delivery across the board.
The discussion revealed Accenture’s strategic experimentation with AI, aiming to optimize internal corporate processes and improve the overall employee experience.
Tierro also pointed out the success of a series of hackathons within the company, where employees from diverse departments, including HR and finance, collaborated to explore and pilot AI applications.
“It was fascinating because there were more use cases there,” Tierro noted, suggesting a wide array of AI applications that could significantly impact traditional business functions.
“I think our [Philippine IT-BPM] industry is amazing. We’ve done so much for Filipinos and the economy and the country. And so I think it’s up to us to take it to the next level and hopefully transform the jobs that we generate in our industry and add more value,” she added.
Accenture has rapidly expanded its GenAI offerings since 2023, working on 300 projects and generating $300 million in sales this past fiscal year. The firm even partnered with Google Cloud to provide a suite of artificial intelligence (AI) managed services to aid firms in their operations and technological transformation.
Earlier this year, the tech giant also revealed that they are setting up more GenAI studios across the Asia Pacific and Latin America to meet the growing demand from firms to harness the power of the latest technologies.
Tierro’s insights during the podcast underscored the importance of AI in redefining job roles and enhancing value delivery within the industry. By embracing AI, Accenture is not only looking to streamline service delivery but also to enrich client and employee interactions.
Accenture ranked #1 in the OA500 2024, an objective index of the world’s top 500 outsourcing companies. This is the second year the company clinched the index’s top spot.
