Accenture, AWS expand public sector AI partnership

DUBLIN, IRELAND, and WASHINGTON, UNITED STATES — Accenture and Amazon Web Services (AWS) are significantly expanding their collaboration to deliver a new suite of artificial intelligence (AI) and cloud solutions tailored for government, defense, and national security organizations.
The initiative will assist public-sector entities in saving money, streamlining resources, and enhancing the delivery of citizen and defense services through state-of-the-art technology.
AI partnership for public sector digital transformation
Accenture is a global leader in professional services, with approximately 779,000 employees, aiming to redefine enterprise operations through a digital core and AI, as well as consulting and technology solutions.
The company uses this deep experience in government partnerships in the sector to modernize its services to citizens and the military, leveraging its industry expertise, as it has a mission to deliver on the promise of technology and human ingenuity. Accenture ranked #2 in the OA500 2025, an objective index of the world’s top 500 outsourcing companies.
Amazon Web Services (AWS) is an industry-leading, secure, and scalable cloud infrastructure and services provider serving a worldwide customer base of startups and governments since its introduction in 2006.
This already builds confidence and scope for technology, positioning AWS to deliver the much-needed, secure cloud-based solutions to the public sector, where novel AI-based solutions are being developed and implemented.
The growth of the collaboration comes amid the global review of cloud resilience by organizations in the wake of a massive AWS outage on October 20 in the United States, Europe, and parts of Asia.
This event has highlighted a strategic necessity that provides clients a proven path to resilience, built on Accenture’s deep, multi-cloud relationships with other industry leaders like Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud, ensuring clients have continuity and flexibility regardless of market disruptions.
The incident silenced critical communication channels, including contact centers, and exposed the risks of concentrated cloud dependencies. This new initiative with Accenture aims to provide the secure, modernized infrastructure the public sector needs, ensuring that vital citizen and defense services can maintain continuity even during major disruptions.
AI-driven public sector reinvention
Accenture and AWS are working to implement generative and agentic AI solutions to automate operations, simplify processes, and improve decision-making.
It is based on research by Accenture, which found that 87% of executives believe AI agents are entering a new age of process transformation, signaling broad agreement that the technology can transform processes.
“These expanded solutions will help organizations modernize with innovative cloud and AI solutions. This is the first step in reinventing citizen services and boosting defense capabilities, while also building trust and ensuring high standards of security and compliance,” noted Jennifer Jackson, AWS Business Group Lead at Accenture.
The real-world use of this technology is to enhance public-sector productivity and make services provided to citizens much more effective. In the case of social services and health agencies, this translates into AI-based case management and data analytics systems that can be used to determine benefits faster and modernize archaic systems, including the Integrated Eligibility system in the United States.
An example of an actual beneficiary is the Louisiana Department of Children & Family Services, where these tools have been applied to minimize administrative overhead and allow the agency to devote more time to direct service provision to families.
Mission-critical security and modernization
This move also centers on providing the robust, secure infrastructure necessary for high-stakes government functions, particularly in defense and national security. The solutions are built on AWS’s secure infrastructure, specifically designed for high-sensitivity operations.
“Through this strategic collaboration with Accenture, we’re helping public service organizations deliver those experiences by enabling innovation through transformative technologies, while also helping them operate more efficiently in today’s challenging landscape,” said Rishi Bhaskar, Director, Worldwide Public Sector Partnerships at AWS.
This foundation enables rapid deployment of cloud solutions with zero-trust architectures and edge computing in contested environments, ensuring modernization does not compromise security.
This interest can help defense organizations increase their operational capacity and mission results and modernize their legacy systems. The joint venture will offer supply chain optimization solutions and other mission-based accelerators while maintaining the highest security standards.
This alliance is geared toward fulfilling the special needs of defense and national security, in which any technological development will be directly translated into better mission preparedness and enhanced security controls.
