Accenture becomes the latest victim of a ransomware attack

Global consulting firm Accenture has been hacked by the LockBit ransomware gang, according to a statement released on the group’s website.
The cybercriminal group stated that the BPO company’s encrypted files will be posted on the dark web next Wednesday if Accenture does not pay the ransom.
The company’s spokesperson Stacey Jones confirmed the incident, saying “Through our security controls and protocols, we identified irregular activity in one of our environments.”
Jones added that they immediately isolated and restored the affected systems through backup and noted that “there was no impact on Accenture’s operations, or on our clients’ systems.”
She did not, however, acknowledge LockBit’s attack and their ransom demand.
