Accenture names Rachel Frey as Chief Communications Officer

DUBLIN, IRELAND — Accenture announced the appointment of Rachel Frey as Chief Communications Officer, a newly created position effective immediately.

Frey will report directly to Chair and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Julie Sweet and join the company’s Global Management Committee, tasked with unifying the firm’s global communications strategy.

“I am excited for her to take on this expanded role at a time when clear communication has never been more important,” said Sweet.

New C-suite role elevates Accenture communications

The establishment of the new position indicates that Accenture is planning to integrate communications more closely into its overall executive decision-making.

This internal shift will ensure alignment of communications on the company’s performance, values, and market position at the highest level of the top leadership team. It also underscores a commitment to transparency and the free flow of information to top-level management.

Her current role as head of corporate communications indicates that the company has recognized her success in her prior position. During her tenure, she strengthened Accenture’s relations with external stakeholders and developed an advanced earned media strategy.

As Sweet notes, “With her extensive experience at Accenture, Rachel brings a deep understanding of our business, people, and impact as well as a strong track record of helping us engage and connect with our external stakeholders.”

The strategy has played a critical role in making Accenture and its leaders experts in artificial intelligence (AI) reinvention across key sectors worldwide.

The fact that she takes a C-suite role means the momentum created by such actions is not only retained but also expanded to encompass all aspects of corporate communication at Accenture.

Data-driven mandate and functional scope

Frey’s new position is characterized by a broad mandate that leverages both established and emerging technologies. She will manage internal communication, global media relations, financial communication, public relations, and crisis management

“Communications are central to how we build trust, advance our strategy, and help our clients and our people navigate reinvention with clarity and confidence,” said Frey.

Such a wide portfolio places her in the middle of how the company communicates with employees, investors, and the communities in which it operates. Her capacity to consolidate all these streams is expected to project a single message that supports the value Accenture adds to stakeholders.

One of the main aspects of her new duties will be to continue using data and AI to enhance the communications function. The application of AI and analytics across internal and external channels will enable Frey to implement its strategy more accurately and efficiently.

This data-driven focus on communication not only ensures consistency but also makes it measurable and responsive to the fast-changing business environment.

The company ranked #2 in OA500 2025, an objective index of the world’s 500 top outsourcing companies. The 2026 edition of the OA500 is expected to be released in March. (Read the OA500 2026 methodology paper here.)
