Accenture highlights GenAI’s potential to boost workforce

MANILA, PHILIPPINES — IT giant Accenture recently showcased how generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) could be a game-changer in the job market.
In a demonstration, Accenture Philippines illustrated how an accountant, lacking coding skills, can effortlessly update a digital tax system with GenAI, described as “asking a human with just a few words.”
Recent company data shows a growing interest in GenAI among Philippine businesses, with 70% planning to roll out training programs by 2023.
Accenture Philippines Country Managing Director Ambe Tiero emphasized that while GenAI offers vast potential, human intervention remains vital to ensure accuracy.
Tiero also highlighted the importance of effective tech adoption, adding that technology’s potential is “untapped if not user-friendly.”
As part of its commitment, Accenture facilitates hackathons and educational sessions to bolster client engagement with new technologies.
Adding to GenAI’s multifunctionality, Accenture Philippines Innovation Lead Arvin Yason pointed out that the tech can serve as an instructional aid. For example, the AI can generate user-friendly FAQs instead of manual reading.
Tiero also shed light on the dynamic tech landscape, noting the emergence of roles like “prompt engineers” on platforms like LinkedIn, nonexistent just two years ago.
Reinforcing the momentum, an Accenture survey found that 99% of top-tier executives are set to ramp up their AI investments in the coming years, eyeing global competitiveness.
