Accenture invests in Voltron Data to accelerate GPU-powered analytics

NEW YORK and CALIFORNIA, UNITED STATES — Outsourcing giant Accenture has announced an investment in Voltron Data through its venture arm, positioning organizations to harness graphics processing units (GPU)-powered systems for large-scale data processing critical to generative AI and machine learning.
The move aims to address enterprises’ struggles with siloed, slow data analytics that delay decision-making across industries like banking and telecommunications.
Supercharging data analytics with GPU power
Voltron Data’s flagship Theseus platform, launched in 2021, redefines how enterprises handle petabyte-scale datasets. Unlike traditional central processing unit (CPU)-dependent systems, the structured query language (SQL) query engine leverages GPUs to slash processing times – transforming hours-long queries into minutes.
Financial institutions, for example, generate dozens of terabytes of daily cybersecurity logs that Theseus can rapidly analyze without lengthy data ingestion delays.
“Combining Accenture’s expertise in accelerated and high-performance computing with Voltron Data’s large-scale data processing platform, companies can better realize the full potential of their data assets and unlock new kinds of business value,” said David Wood, Accenture’s Technology Consulting lead.
The partnership enables clients to unify AI/ML pipelines and analytics on shared GPU infrastructure, reducing energy use and data center space while accelerating insights.
Transforming industries through accelerated insights
With 799,000 employees across 120 countries, Accenture plans to scale Voltron’s reach to its global client base, including major banks and communications firms. Michael Abbott, Accenture’s Banking lead, likened the technology to “transforming a one-lane road into a multi-lane highway” for data previously too costly or slow to be utilized fully.
“This investment and collaboration gives Voltron Data greater reach to empower customers looking to capture the massive opportunities of the artificial intelligence boom,” said Craig Dunham, CEO of Voltron Data.
The company joins Accenture Ventures’ Project Spotlight program, gaining access to enterprise clients and industry-specific guidance to refine its offerings.
While financial terms remain undisclosed, the partnership signals an intensified focus on infrastructure capable of supporting next-generation analytics.
For the second year running, Accenture ranked #1 in OA500 2024, an objective index of the world’s 500 top outsourcing companies. The 2025 edition of OA500 will be released soon.
