Accenture, Mujin launch robotics solutions for manufacturing and logistics

NEW YORK and TOKYO — Outsourcing firm Accenture and robotics solutions provider Mujin Inc. (Mujin) have teamed up to launch Accenture Alpha Automation, a new company to aid manufacturing and logistics firms in streamlining their operations with the latest artificial intelligence (AI) and robotics technologies.
Accenture has invested directly in Mujin through Accenture Ventures, marking its first Project Spotlight investment in Asia. The venture is owned 70% by Accenture and 30% by Mujin. Headquartered in Tokyo, the operations started on January 15, 2024, with the following scope:
- Consult and develop automation concepts in the manufacturing and logistics industries
- System integration in the manufacturing and logistics industries
- All businesses incidental to the preceding items
Mujin will offer its expertise in industrial robotics and automation, while Accenture will deploy its digital engineering and manufacturing service arm, Industry X.
The joint venture will integrate disconnected operations data with business management, including supply chain status and financial and market data. Both firms will aid manufacturing and logistics automate their business processes.

Mujin Chief Executive Officer Issei Takino said, “Our mission is to make industrial robots intelligent and easy to use so they can improve productivity and quality and help create new value in an aging society.”
In its World Social Report 2023, the United Nations Department for Economic and Social Affairs named Japan as the oldest country in the world, with 29.8% of people aged 65 and older, based on 2021 data. With its shrinking workforce, automation is essential in helping Japan remain competitive in the global market.
Mujin is a robotics firm founded in 2011 in Tokyo, Japan, with offices in China, Europe, and in the U.S. The company’s flagship product, the MujinController platform, uses Machine Intelligence technology to supply robotic systems with real-time decision-making ability.
