Accenture completes OPENSTREAM HOLDINGS acquisition

NEW YORK, UNITED STATES and TOKYO, JAPAN — Outsourcing giant Accenture has finalized its acquisition of OPENSTREAM HOLDINGS and its subsidiaries, Open Stream and Neutral, in a move aimed at enhancing its digital transformation capabilities.
While the terms of the acquisition remain undisclosed, the strategic move significantly boosts Accenture’s digital engineering and cloud capabilities, especially in the Japanese market.
The deal, first announced on May 17, 2024, brings approximately 1,000 cloud and digital experts into Accenture’s fold, significantly bolstering its cloud and digital engineering teams.
Strengthening cloud and AI expertise of Accenture
The acquisition will enhance Accenture’s ability to support clients in system and application modernization, while also facilitating the adoption of cloud, data, artificial intelligence (AI), and Internet of Things (IoT).
Moreover, it broadens Accenture’s client portfolio, adding automation solutions that cover the entire product value chain, from procurement and manufacturing processes to logistics and after-sales service.
Open Stream, with its team of 600 professionals, specializes in consulting and systems integration services for the logistics and retail industries.
The company also offers low-code development platforms used by over 2,800 companies for various management systems.
Neutral, comprising 400 professionals, brings valuable experience in system integration for the automotive and manufacturing sectors. Their expertise spans manufacturing management, 3D computer-aided design, and AI-powered forecasting tools.
Accenture’s expansion in the Japanese market
This move is part of Accenture’s broader strategy to deepen its technological capabilities across Japan.
It follows several other strategic acquisitions in the country, including CLIMB in April 2024 and the formation of a joint venture with MUJIN in January 2024.
These efforts follow the 2022 acquisition of Trancom ITS and the 2021 purchase of DI Square, enhancing Accenture’s offerings in digital engineering and operational technology.
“With OPENSTREAM HOLDINGS, we can better help our clients reinvent their businesses and become truly data-driven,” said Atsushi Egawa, who leads Accenture’s business in Japan.
“Open Stream’s and Neutral’s talent, solutions and client relationships with manufacturing and logistics companies will also strengthen our Industry X service.”
Accenture, a global leader in professional services, operates in more than 120 countries with a workforce of approximately 750,000 people. It recently ranked #1 in the OA500 2024, an objective index of the world’s top 500 outsourcing companies, for the second consecutive year.
