Accenture, Teleperformance commit to hiring refugees

PARIS, FRANCE — Leading Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) companies Accenture and Teleperformance pledged to hire and train Ukrainian refugees and other displaced individuals in Europe.
Both companies’ pledge is part of a larger initiative during the Tent European Business Summit, where 41 companies committed to providing jobs and training to more than 250,000 refugees.
Accenture promised to help upskill and support an estimated 16,000 refugee job seekers and migrants in Europe over the next three years. This includes partnering with organizations for skills development and training opportunities.
“Refugees face so many challenges as they try to enter their new country’s labor market for the first time or find work that is commensurate with their skills and background,” said Lucy Murdoch, Managing Director – Corporate Citizenship, Accenture.
“Our pledge today builds on Accenture’s ongoing commitment towards creating inclusive employment pathways for refugees and track record in upskilling marginalized populations all around the world to make substantive improvements to their lives and prepare them for sustainable futures.”
Meanwhile, Teleperformance vowed to hire 500 refugees across its European operations in France, Greece, Germany, Portugal, and the UK over the next three years. This commitment builds on the firm’s efforts to hire 100 refugees in Europe between March 2022 and June 2023.
Tent Partnership for Refugees CEO Gideon Maltz said, “The European public’s outpouring of support for Ukrainian refugees in the early days of Russia’s invasion is now being matched by the business community making smart, strategic, and durable investments to integrate Ukrainian and other refugees into the labor market.”
He added that the program aims to fill labor shortages and help refugees rebuild their lives and integrate into their communities.
Earlier this year, Accenture and Teleperformance took the top two spots in the Time Doctor OA500, an index of the world’s top 500 outsourcing companies and a vital tool in assisting the BPO decision-making community.
