Accenture to expand sustainability service with Green Domus deal
SAO PAULO, BRAZIL — Business process outsourcing (BPO) giant Accenture has announced its intention to acquire Green Domus Desenvolvimento Sustentável, a sustainability consultancy based in Brazil.
With the acquisition, Accenture is aiming to expand its Sustainability Services portfolio. The financial details of the transaction were not disclosed.
The move comes in response to a growing demand for advanced sustainability services, as only 7% of global companies are on track to achieve their net zero targets by 2050.
The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) recommends capping emissions by 2030 and reaching net zero by 2050 to limit temperature rise to 1.5°C below pre-industrial levels. Net zero is achieved when total emissions are less than or equal to the emissions removed from the environment.
“Green Domus’ approach to measuring carbon emissions data and Accenture’s suite of advanced sustainability services, such as our net zero transition solutions, will support our clients in building resilient futures,” Matthew Govier, Latin America Sustainability Services lead for Accenture, stated.
Established in 2005, Green Domus brings extensive industry experience and decarbonization strategy expertise across diverse sectors including natural resources, agriculture, consumer goods and retail.
“Businesses are anticipating the impacts of this disruption along with increased regulatory compliance. By joining Accenture, we will use the latest technologies to collaboratively accelerate our ability to embed sustainability into long-lasting solutions that address global challenges such as decarbonization,” said Green Domus CEO Felipe Bottini.
With a global presence in more than 120 countries, Accenture has a workforce of 738,000 highly skilled employees. The firm ranked #1 in the Time Doctor OA500, an index of the world’s top 500 outsourcing firms and a vital tool in assisting the BPO decision-making community.
