Accenture to acquire OPENSTREAM HOLDINGS for digital transformation

NEW YORK, UNITED STATES and TOKYO, JAPAN — Outsourcing firm Accenture has announced its acquisition of OPENSTREAM HOLDINGS and its subsidiaries, Open Stream and Neutral. The terms of the transaction remain confidential.
The deal marks a significant step in expanding Accenture’s digital and cloud engineering, particularly in the Japanese market.
Enhancing capabilities and client portfolio of Accenture
The purchase will bring approximately 1,000 cloud and digital experts into Accenture’s fold, bolstering its cloud and digital engineering and manufacturing teams. This influx of talent will strengthen Accenture’s ability to support clients in system and application modernization, as well as facilitate the adoption of cloud, data, AI, and IoT technologies.
Open Stream, with its 600 professionals, offers consulting, systems integration services, and advanced technologies, including cloud, AI, IoT, and cybersecurity, for logistics and retail industries.
Additionally, Open Stream provides low-code development platforms for production management, inventory management, logistics, and accounting systems utilized by over 2,800 companies, as well as solutions for smart factories.
Neutral, with its 400 professionals, specializes in system integration for the automotive and manufacturing industries. It boasts strong credentials in manufacturing management, 3D computer-aided design and engineering solutions, system integration of electronic medical records, AI-powered forecasting, root cause analysis, and predictive maintenance tools.
Driving digital reinvention and embracing change
“With OPENSTREAM HOLDINGS, we can better help our clients reinvent their businesses and become truly data-driven,” said Atsushi Egawa, who leads Accenture’s business in Japan.
“Open Stream’s and Neutral’s talent, solutions and client relationships with manufacturing and logistics companies will also strengthen our Industry X service.”
Kazuhiko Yoshihara, Representative Director & President of OPENSTREAM HOLDINGS, echoed this sentiment, stating, “Recognizing the accelerated pace of digital reinvention, we aim to be a constant presence that galvanizes the industry by walking together with our clients… By joining together, we can further leverage the achievements and experiences we have built in a wide range of fields and contribute to the creation of a better future society.”
A year of Accenture’s strategic acquisitions
This acquisition is part of a broader strategy by Accenture to deepen its technological capabilities across Japan.
Earlier in April, the company acquired CLIMB, a technology services provider in Gunma Prefecture.
January saw the formation of a joint venture with MUJIN to integrate AI and robotics in manufacturing and logistics.
These efforts follow the 2022 acquisition of Trancom ITS and the 2021 purchase of DI Square, enhancing Accenture’s offerings in digital engineering and operational technology.
Accenture ranked #1 in the OA500 2024, an objective index of the world’s top 500 outsourcing companies. This is the second year the company clinched the index’s top spot.
