Advensus opens $6Mn BPO facility in Trinidad and Tobago

CHAGUANAS, TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO — In a significant expansion of Caribbean business process outsourcing (BPO) operations, Advensus has opened a US$6 million state-of-the-art facility in Chaguanas, Trinidad and Tobago. This marks Advensus’ first major investment outside the Dominican Republic.
Strategic location choice
With a population of 1.38 million, Trinidad and Tobago offers a highly skilled, English-proficient workforce and low employee turnover rates. Other international BPO companies in the country include iQor, Call Center Pros, Teleperformance, and Bill Gosling Outsourcing.
The nation’s robust infrastructure, including comprehensive fiber optic coverage and five undersea cables, provides the technical backbone necessary for advanced BPO operations.
“Trinidad is fertile ground for access to professional talent, top-level English capabilities, and neutral accents for nearshore customer service delivery,” said Thomas Oronti, CEO of Advensus.
“We’re thrilled to join other pioneers in shaping the future of this country’s burgeoning BPO ecosystem.”
Facility features and employment impact
The new 4,000-square-meter facility spans three floors and showcases Advensus’s commitment to employee welfare. The center features 800 workstations, a high-end cafeteria, recreation areas, and modern amenities including acoustic carpeting and efficient climate control systems. The company projects creating 1,000 new jobs within 18 months.
“We refurbished the building with employee experience, security, and PCI (Payment Card Industry) and HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) compliance top-of-mind,” Oronti explained.
“It’s crucial that our employees are happy at work and that enterprise brands feel comfortable outsourcing here.”
Established in 2006, Advensus has built a formidable presence in the Dominican Republic, where it operates five facilities in Santo Domingo with over 5,000 seats. The company’s service portfolio spans customer service, sales operations, collections, technical support, and back-office functions, serving diverse sectors including retail, healthcare, and financial services.
The investment has received strong support from local authorities, with Trinidad and Tobago Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (TTTIPA) CEO Sekou Alleyne noting that Advensus joins eight other global investors in the country’s growing outsourcing sector, which currently employs approximately 3,000 people.
