AI and cloud computing to reshape work, says Autodesk exec

CALIFORNIA, UNITED STATES — The integration of artificial intelligence (AI) and cloud computing is poised to revolutionize the future of work across industries, according to Mike Haley, Senior Vice President of Research at Autodesk.
These transformative technologies promise to dismantle long-standing barriers, streamline workflows, and drive innovation.
“You can imagine your bottom layer of what is a cloud platform is what we refer to as granularized data… So that every single person in your company who has got different work to do can have the right workflow, at the right time, and against just the right data,” stated Haley.
“It has to be an ecosystem. It has to be extensible, because nobody can build all solutions to everybody. We as Autodesk can’t build every workflow for every one of our customers.”
Moreover, AI is becoming increasingly accessible and user-friendly, empowering creative professionals to harness these tools efficiently. Haley noted that AI will radically change the future of all industries and customers.
“AI’s gonna kick in and it’s gonna say, “Hey, don’t worry, I’ve got you. I’m gonna get all this data, I’m gonna analyze it, I’m gonna break it down,” you know, so you don’t have to worry about spelunking around to trying to find it.”
Autodesk continues to explore these possibilities. The American multinational software corporation operates in the architecture, engineering, construction, product design, manufacturing, and media and entertainment industries.
LexisNexis and Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) are also optimistic about AI’s potential to reshape work dynamics.
These sentiments counter the growing trend of techno-pessimism sparked by recent advancements in AI. The “Godfather of AI,” Geoffrey Hinton, and former Yahoo chief Marissa Mayer already sounded the alarm on the technology, with the International Monetary Fund warning that 300 million jobs globally will be affected by automation.
