AlixPartners acquires AI consultancy Artium

NEW YORK, UNITED STATES — AlixPartners acquired Artium, a Los Angeles-based agentic artificial intelligence (AI) software firm, to expand its enterprise consulting capabilities with AI-powered process automation and customer experience development.

Artium will continue operating as “Artium by AlixPartners,” maintaining its founding team, staff, and model lab partnerships with OpenAI and Anthropic.

Artium brings agentic AI to AlixPartners’ client work

AlixPartners is a New York-headquartered management consulting firm that advises corporations and governments on restructuring, performance improvement, and strategic transformation across sectors including financial services, healthcare, and technology.

According to a report from Consulting.us, Artium’s agentic AI software builds on partnerships with OpenAI and Anthropic to automate internal business processes and develop customer-facing AI agents for enterprise clients, capabilities AlixPartners can now deploy across its global practice areas.

“By combining Artium’s deep AI capabilities with AlixPartners’ industry and functional expertise, we are well-positioned to create even greater value for our clients and define the future of consulting,” said Rob Hornby, co-chief executive officer at AlixPartners.

Artium operates as distinct unit within AlixPartners

Artium will operate as a distinct business unit within AlixPartners, preserving its founding team, core methodology, and relationships with AI model providers, while gaining access to AlixPartners’ global client base and industry networks.

The rebrand to “Artium by AlixPartners” positions the combined entity to compete for large-scale enterprise AI transformation mandates that require both deep technical capability and credentialed consulting experience.

“As we looked to our next phase of growth, AlixPartners stood out as the clear choice. The firm’s leadership has a deep understanding of our business, our technology, and the opportunities ahead. We believe that our combined strengths and commitment to results will create even greater impact for existing and future clients,” said Ross Hale, chief executive officer and co-founder at Artium.

The acquisition accelerates a trend in management consulting where established advisory firms are acquiring agentic AI specialists to bridge the gap between AI strategy and enterprise execution in business process outsourcing (BPO) and transformation engagements.

AlixPartners competes with firms including McKinsey, Bain, and Accenture for high-value AI implementation mandates, and the Artium acquisition gives it a proprietary agentic layer to deploy alongside its restructuring and performance practices.

Artium’s model lab relationships with OpenAI and Anthropic also give AlixPartners direct access to frontier AI development roadmaps, a competitive advantage as consulting firms race to embed AI tooling into their service delivery.
