AmEx to allow 40% of its US employees to work remotely
Credit-card giant American Express (AmEx) said that more than 40% of its employees in the United States (US) chose to work remotely on a full-time basis.
Due to this, AmEx Steve Squeri said in a letter to shareholders that they are upgrading their offices and outfitting workspaces to enable “virtual and in-person colleagues to work together.”
AmEx is among the few financial firms to embrace remote work. The majority of their US staffers said that they are planning to come into the office for only two days per week, even after the pandemic.
Squeri stated that “AmEx is seeing a continued recovery in corporate travel” as they adapt to a hybrid work model.
He added that this business model is also changing the future of corporate travel.
“As more people work remotely — some of them in locations outside of their home-office locations — there will be a greater need to travel to the office for periodic meetings with their teams or to visit their clients located in other parts of the country.”
The company had more than 22,000 U.S. employees as of the end of 2020.
The company has also recently announced that it would suspend its Russia and Belarus operations due to the ongoing invasion in Ukraine.
