Apple opens 176 machine learning, AI jobs
CALIFORNIA, UNITED STATES — Tech giant Apple opened 176 new positions related to machine learning and artificial intelligence.
According to a report by tech website Pocket-lint, 68 positions are within the Siri department, 52 will work with iOS, and 46 are related to macOS. Other jobs will require working with more than one product.
“AI represents a huge opportunity to elevate Apple’s products and experiences for billions of people globally,” the tech giant wrote in its job listing.
“Apple’s Technology Development Group (TDG) is looking for Machine-Learning engineers with a background and/or interest in Generative AI! You will be leveraging innovative Generative models to build fundamental applications on top of Apple’s most advanced technologies while developing your expertise in Augmented and Virtual Reality (AR/VR),” it continued.
A separate report by TechCrunch stated that Apple started seeking new hires for these roles on April 27 this year. The latest job postings cropped up earlier this week.
Apple CEO Tim Cook recently acknowledged the significance of generative AI, referring to it as “very interesting.”
However, due to privacy and security concerns, the company remains cautious by banning the use of Large Language Models (LLMs) — including Google’s Bard or ChatGPT — to its employees.
