DUBLIN, IRELAND — The Asia-Pacific (APAC) market for data center power distribution units (PDUs) and power supply units (PSUs) is experiencing explosive growth driven by booming cloud and outsourcing demand, positioning APAC as a critical global hub for next-generation power infrastructure.

Cloud outsourcing fuels APAC data center surge

Research and Markets has released a new report projecting that the APAC data center PDUs and PSUs market will skyrocket from US$2.86 billion in 2024 to US$20.49 billion by 2035, growing at a remarkable 19.8% CAGR.

ABB, Huawei, Schneider Electric, Vertiv, and Delta Electronics are actively involved in developing energy-efficient, modular, and smart power solutions tailored to the diverse types of data center infrastructure in the region.

Asia-Pacific is quickly becoming a major player in global outsourcing. As businesses around the world move their IT operations, customer service, and cloud projects to regional colocation and hyperscale data centers in places like China, India, Singapore, and Japan, the need for dependable, scalable power systems has grown.

Energy efficiency drives investment

Data centers that provide cloud and outsourcing services throughout the world need power that is always on and works well. Intelligent PDUs with real-time monitoring, modular PSUs, and connections to renewable energy sources are increasingly required for industries that need to be up and running all the time, like finance, healthcare, and e-commerce.

Through smart cities, 5G expansion, and data sovereignty mandates, governments across the Asia-Pacific are pushing digitalization, which is further catalyzing investment in advanced power infrastructure.

As outsourcing-driven colocation markets expand from approximately US$20 billion in 2024 to over US$37 billion by 2030, the pressure to deploy scalable and efficient power distribution systems intensifies.

Hyperscale and edge data centers in the area, which commonly host outsourced processing, AI workloads, and customer-facing cloud services, are prioritizing energy-efficient PSUs and PDUs to cut costs, improve sustainability, and ensure reliable services. Strategic hardware collaborations and local manufacturing are reducing lead times due to concerns about power supply and regulatory changes.

As companies around the world shift more of their computing and cloud work to the Asia-Pacific region, the region’s data center power infrastructure is becoming a crucial component of modern outsourcing ecosystems. APAC is consolidating its place at the hub of worldwide digital infrastructure because of robust growth expectations and a fast-moving power equipment sector.
