Australia’s MDF, Centrecom collaborate toto boost Fiji’s BPO industry

Australia’s Market Development Facility (MDF) and contact centre services provider Pacific Centrecom Limited partner has entered a partnership to develop new Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) opportunities in Fiji.
Centrecom CEO Carol Watkins said that this collaboration would promote the capabilities of their company and Fiji’s outsourcing industry internationally, specifically to nearshore markets such as New Zealand.
Watkins and MDF Country Director Malcolm Bossley expressed their confidence in Fiji’s growing BPO sector. Bossley further revealed that their partnerships with BPOs since 2019 have already delivered over 200 new jobs, contributed FJD2.1 million (approximately US$6 million) in wage income and FJD12.5 million in new business for the sector.
Fiji’s BPO industry is currently estimated to be worth FJD100 million (approximately US$48 million) with over 5,000 employees. Industry experts are expecting an additional 10,000 outsourcing jobs in the country in the next five years.
