BACCO hosts first divisional BPO summit

CHATTOGRAM, BANGLADESH — The Bangladesh Association of Contact Centre and Outsourcing (BACCO) staged its inaugural divisional Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) summit and job fair in Chattogram.
The event was chaired by Chattogram Deputy Commissioner Abul Bashar Mohammed Fakhruzzaman, aiming to create fresh employment opportunities for local youth.
In his address, Fakhruzzaman emphasized the necessity of skill acquisition amidst rapid technological progression, particularly encouraging youths to equip themselves with strong communication, negotiation abilities, and multilingual proficiency.
Meanwhile, BACCO General Secretary Towhid Hossain outlined the organization’s ambition to generate 100,000 jobs in the BPO sector by 2025.
“Currently, more than 70,000 people are working in this sector. This year, at least 1,000 jobs will be created for the young generation through the job fairs at divisional BPO summits,” Hossain added.
The summit was organized in divisional cities for the first time, underlining BACCO’s commitment to fostering a skilled workforce in the BPO industry and tapping into the IT-based sectors’ potential.
Several notable personalities attended the summit, including ICT Division Director Md Mizanur Rahman and other BACCO directors. Prominent BPO firms were also present at the event and its subsequent job fair to collect the CVs of interested applicants.
The initiative symbolizes a proactive approach to mitigate the impact of vanishing primary and secondary jobs due to technological advancements.
