Bacolod named as WB pilot city on economic recovery program

The World Bank’s (WB) COVID-19 Economic Recovery Program chose Bacolod City as one of the five pilot cities in the country for their technical assistance project, which geared towards strengthening the competitive capabilities of cities.
City mayor Evelio Leonardia had an online project briefing with Madhu Raghunah, World Bank team leader for sustainable development. Leonardia said that under the World Bank assistance program, Bacolod will focus on its main economic development drivers.
This will include housing and property development, information technology-business process outsourcing and education.
“Before the Covid-19 pandemic, the local economy was vibrant and Bacolod was on the roll. After this health crisis is over, we will make sure that Bacolod is back on track,” Leonardia said.
