Bacolod to create IT-BPM ‘super city’

BACOLOD, PHILIPPINES — Bacolod, a city on the northwest coast of the Philippines, aims to develop its own Information Technology and Business Process Management (IT-BPM) super city to drive economic growth.
During the Bacolod IT-BPM Conference and Expo, Mayor Alfredo Benitez said that they are looking to find more ways to expand the sector — particularly in employment — as it is the top economic driver in the city.
The conference also seeks to promote Bacolod as a prime outsourcing location in the Philippines.
“I assure this (IT-BPM) sector that the city will continuously work in providing reliable power for our BPO companies and strengthen the department to attend to the needs of the industry,” Benitez added.
The local government of Bacolod also secured a partnership with real estate firm Robinsons Land Corporation (RLC) to help finish building the IT-BPM supercity by 2025.
RLC Vice-President and Office Leasing Head J.P. Balboa said they would work closely with Bacolod City to attract more investments and locators to the city.
