Bangladesh BPO sector pivots to high-tech, job growth at Dhaka summit

DHAKA, BANGLADESH — The sixth edition of the Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) Summit Bangladesh concluded with the participation of 3,000 attendees, tech showcases, and immediate job opportunities for young professionals.
Organized by the Bangladesh Association of Contact Center and Outsourcing (BACCO), the event set a bold vision for the country’s outsourcing sector under the theme “BPO 2.0—Revolution to Innovation.“
Outsourcing sector poised for high-tech transformation
There were more than 30 local and international IT exhibitors and 86 speakers, whose conversations centered on AI, cybersecurity, and fintech, as these were the areas that local companies should target to remain competitive in the global market.
Real-time zones, utilizing Starlink satellite internet, underwater drones, and humanoid robots, demonstrated the country’s readiness to engage in high-value digital outsourcing.
A major lesson was the implementation of AI that was under pressure to facilitate service delivery. The professionals indicated that this could be achieved through automation and machine learning, whereby Bangladesh would not remain in the business of call centers but rather provide multi-faceted IT-enabled services (ITES).
The involvement of the government, up to and including top ministers, was a good indication that the government was behind the move in terms of policy, something that is very critical in luring foreign investors.
Youth employment and digital inclusion take center stage
The summit actively built it through real-time hiring and skills development. At the career fest, where recruiters from leading companies conducted interviews with local residents and provided CV clinics, more than 100 job offers were immediately available.
This direct pipeline from education to employment highlights the sector’s role in addressing the unemployment issue among young people.
Diversity, particularly in terms of gender, was another key focus, with a dedicated session on women’s leadership in outsourcing. The BACCO search to identify freelancing ecosystems demonstrated how remote work can also enable rural talent.
A combination of technological innovations and an inclusive job hiring program is helping the BPO industry in Bangladesh to become sustainable and competitive in the global market.
