Barbados launches 24/7 call center to attract local and foreign firms

BRIDGETOWN, BARBADOS — The Barbados government is opening a new 24-hour call center for the Corporate Affairs and Intellectual Property Office (CAIPO). This aims to improve and streamline services for local and foreign companies looking to do business.
Minister of Energy and Business Development Senator Lisa Cummins announced the call center initiative during a Barbados International Business Association conference.
Cummins acknowledged backlogs of business inquiries at CAIPO have long concerned officials. She said while the call center is a temporary solution, it is a necessary step.
The call center looks to upgrade Barbados’ business climate and ease processes for company registration, licensing, filing, and other CAIPO services. Enhancing the ease of doing business in Barbados is a priority.
Cummins previously pledged major CAIPO reforms to transform Barbados into an efficient place for business registration and operations. The call center is part of continuing efforts to modernize CAIPO through online systems and process improvements.
Analysts say streamlining bureaucratic procedures and using technology can strengthen Barbados’ competitiveness in attracting international business and investment.
The reforms also align with the government’s vision to make Barbados the preferred international financial center in the Americas.
