Barton Healthcare Staffing appoints Anne Zukowski as EVP

MASSACHUSETS, UNITED STATES — Barton Healthcare Staffing (BHS) has appointed Anne Zukowski as Executive Vice President.
Zukowski joined Barton Associates, BHS’s affiliate company, in 2010 and has risen through the ranks, leading sales and recruiting teams.
Using her experience in healthcare sectors, she has successfully staffed medical providers at traditional facilities and non-traditional locations supporting government projects.
Zukowski to expand Barton Healthcare’s reach
In her new role, Zukowski will spearhead growth initiatives for BHS as it stretches its national presence in the healthcare staffing industry.
“Travel allied health clinicians and nurses play a crucial role in maintaining the continuity of care for patients around the United States, and Anne has the experience and skills necessary to continue to position BHS as a leading provider of these critical medical professionals to short-staffed facilities,” said Lina Gallotto, President of BHS.
Since 2018, BHS has placed thousands of travel nurses and allied health clinicians on temporary assignments across all 50 states. The company is headquartered in Peabody, Massachusetts, and is owned by Barton Associates.
Travel nurse revenue to decline in 2024
Zukowski’s appointment comes amid an expected 20% decline in travel nurses this year. According to a report by Staffing Industry Analysts (SIA), the segment expects to normalize following a momentous surge during the COVID-19 pandemic.
“One explanation for the industry’s growth trajectory is that the [U.S.] staffing industry is normalizing after the extraordinary upticks in 2021 and 2022 brought on by government spending in response to the pandemic, according to the report. Travel nursing grew sixfold from 2019 and 2022 amid Covid-19,” noted SIA.
The projected decline in nurse staffing forms the bulk of the 3% decline to $184.6 billion expected in the entire U.S. staffing industry this year.
While the overall industry is projected to decline, some segments are expected to grow. Temporary staffing in education is expected to grow by 7% this year, and engineering staffing is expected to grow by 6%.
The report projects a 3% growth in U.S. staffing industry revenue to $189.9 billion in 2025, with most professional segments other than healthcare experiencing a mid-single-digit expansion.
