Belize City Council, Peak Outsourcing partner to boost employment

BELIZE CITY, BELIZE — In a significant move to bolster employment and career development in Belize City, the Belize City Council has partnered with business process outsourcing (BPO) provider PEAK Outsourcing.
The two organizations signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) aimed at creating job placement and career development opportunities for city residents.
Benefit to Belize residents
The partnership will offer a series of workshops and training programs designed to equip participants with the necessary skills to enter the workforce.
Peak Outsourcing is committed to providing gainful employment for qualified Belize City residents, recent graduates, and students who can work full-time while pursuing their education.
Orson Picart, Senior Talent Acquisition Specialist at Peak Outsourcing, emphasized the organization’s broader community engagement goals.

Vision for reducing unemployment in Belize
Belize City Mayor Bernard Wagner highlighted the council’s active role in reducing unemployment through various initiatives.
“We have been the sort of entity which really wants to drive and contribute to reducing unemployment in our city,” he stated.
“We have done it, as you see, through Being Your Own Boss initiative contributing to having people run their own little business but at the same time, there are some people who want to enter and seek a career, and what better place than Peak Outsourcing.”
The role of the private sector in employment
The latest Labour Force Survey by the Statistical Institute of Belize (SIB) indicates a national unemployment rate of 3%.
Wagner underscored the importance of the private sector in sustaining this trend. “It will never always be about government providing the job opportunities, but the private sector, being your own boss, private sector, these are all part of the whole system that contribute.”
Terms of the two-year agreement
The MOU between the Belize City Council and Peak Outsourcing is set to last for two years, during which both parties will work closely to ensure the successful implementation of the employment and training programs.
