Biden passes vaccine mandate for large US firms

United States President Joe Biden announced the implementation of a vaccine mandate that requires all companies with more than 100 employees to either get inoculated against COVID-19 or show a negative COVID test at least weekly.
Citing several companies that already have this mandate — including United Airlines, Disney, Tyson Foods, and Fox News — Biden said that they plan to “protect vaccinated workers from unvaccinated co-workers.”
This newly administered rule is expected to affect about two-thirds of the workforce or 100 million workers in the country.
The US president also disclosed that vaccinations will be required for employees who work in hospitals, home healthcare, other medical facilities, and federal offices.
Under the mandate, firms will provide paid time off for workers who are scheduled to get their vaccinations.
Meanwhile, a report from Detroit Business stated that companies could face fines of nearly US$14,000 per violation of the presidential decree.
