Bogota strengthens BPO ties with PH

Colombia’s capital city, Bogota, is carrying out a promotion agenda in the Philippines to recommend the city among Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) companies looking to expand in Latin America.
Representatives of the promotion agency Invest in Bogota are currently in the country to meet key industry stakeholders, as well as evaluate the roadmap of the Philippine BPO sector, and learn the challenges and needs that local companies have for their development.
Invest in Bogota Executive Director Isabella Muñoz said that the Philippines “provides us with relevant insights as a country and as a promotion agency, to identify where we want (and should) go in our exercise of intelligent specialization.”
“Bogota Region is clear about its opportunity to strengthen business with Asia. In the last decade, it has received from Asia Pacific 115 new and expansion foreign direct investment projects, valued at USD 1,313 million and which have generated more than 8,300 jobs. These represent 8.7% of the total projects that have been carried out in the Bogota Region”, adds Muñoz.
Colombia, and its capital Bogota, are important players in the global BPO industry. According to the Offshore BPO Confidence Index 2021, the country is the first destination in the region to develop BPO operations.
Meanwhile, the Global Services Location Index 2021 report listed Colombia as the third top BPO market in Latin America.
During the last five years, the BPO sector in Colombia achieved an average annual growth of 16%, standing out as the fastest-growing in the region.
Apart from corporate services, the country also aims to attract Asian Pacific investors in pharmaceuticals, consumer products, communications, software, IT services, automotive, and financial services, among others.
