Bon Secours Mercy Health inks outsourcing deal with Compassus

CINCINNATI, UNITED STATES — Healthcare company Bon Secours Mercy Health (BSMH) has signed a 50/50 outsourcing deal with Compassus, a home-based care company
Under the agreement, BSMH will turn over operations of 10 home health agencies and 11 hospice operations spanning five states to Compassus.
BSMH will retain ownership of its existing hospice house real estate assets in specific locations, while Compassus will manage the operations.
“We are confident that we have identified a mission- and vision-aligned partner in Compassus that will help to fulfill our important commitment to caring for patients at every stage of life,” said Don Kline, chief operating officer, Bon Secours Mercy Health.
The deal with BSMH mirrors Compassus’ deal with Ascension at Home in 2020, where it became a managing partner.
BSMH employs over 60,000 associates in Florida, Kentucky, Maryland, New York, Ohio, South Carolina and Virginia, as well as throughout Ireland. It has a network of more than 1,200 care sites, which includes 48 hospitals.
Compassus’ service offerings include home health, infusion therapy, and hospice care. It has 6,000 employees and serves over 100,000 patients annually in more than 250 locations, and 29 U.S. states. BSMH will collaborate with Compassus in the transition of home health and hospice associates.
The partnership awaits state and federal regulatory reviews.
