Bosch expands operations in Costa Rica to 1,000

SAN JOSÉ, COSTA RICA — Bosch, the German multinational engineering and technology company, is expanding its operations in Costa Rica.
The company announced plans to grow its local workforce from 600 to 1,000 employees, solidifying Costa Rica as its central hub for backend operations in the Americas.
The company, which has maintained a presence in Costa Rica for a decade, is actively recruiting trilingual customer service representatives fluent in English, Portuguese, and French, software developers, technical support staff, and accounting professionals for its shared service centers.
“Our growth is a reflection of the quality and capacity of Costa Rican talent,” said Paulo Maia, general manager of Bosch Costa Rica. “We’re developing professionals with specialized skills to consolidate our position as a global center of excellence.”
Focus on technology and talent development
Bosch’s Costa Rica team plays a critical role in digitalization, automation, artificial intelligence, and process optimization. Over 30% of its local workforce is already engaged in high-value technology roles, often supported by multilingual capabilities and technical certifications. The services provided are primarily exported to North America and other global markets.
Investing in Costa Rica’s future workforce
Beyond hiring, Bosch is also investing in talent development through its “Zona Norte” initiative. The program partners with educational institutions in the Huetar region to train students for internships in technical departments—creating direct pipelines to employment opportunities at Bosch, both in-person and remote.
“Their growth strengthens local supply chains and creates new opportunities. It showcases Costa Rica’s potential as a hub for global innovation,” said Laura López, general manager of Costa Rica’s trade agency Procomer.
Bosch’s global footprint and services
Bosch’s operations span four main sectors: mobility, industrial technology, consumer goods, and energy and building technology. The company is a leading provider of solutions for smart homes, connected mobility, Industry 4.0, and energy efficiency, leveraging expertise in sensor technology, software, and the Internet of Things (IoT).
In Costa Rica, Bosch’s shared service centers deliver business process outsourcing, technical support, content development, mobility solutions, customer care, and e-commerce services, primarily for clients in North and Latin America.
