BPO employees now included in COVID-19 vaccine A4 priority group

Employees from the Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) sector are now included in the A4 priority group for the government’s COVID-19 vaccine deployment plan. Being on the priority list means that BPO sector workers can avail themselves of COVID-19 jabs ahead of the general population.
The Inter-Agency Task Force On Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID) approved the recommendation of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) to include the sector in the A4 priority group, as it has shown steady growth despite the economic pinch brought by the pandemic.
DTI Secretary Ramon Lopez said the IATF “supported” the importance of the BPO sector to the economy with its contribution in export revenues reaching close to $30 billion a year. The sector also generated at least 1.3 million direct employment and 4 million indirect employment.
