BPO firm Atento suffers from cyberattack in Brazil

Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) provider Atento announced that it had suffered a cyberattack on its systems in Brazil last Sunday, temporarily interrupting their services to local customers.
In a statement, the Spain-based firm said that they have isolated the affected systems and interrupted their client connections to prevent “any possible risk” to customers.
The outsourcing company added that its security team was able to identify the threat and is already “working to contain it, acting to ensure the security of the affected environments before restoring them online.”
Atento is the latest victim of cybercriminal attacks on corporations in Brazil over the past two weeks, following insurance company Porto Seguro and tourism services firm CVC.
Since the start of the pandemic, several publicly traded companies with operations in Brazil have been victims of data hijacking attacks including Natura & Co, Braskem, Cosan, Embraer, Prudential, Westwing, JBS, Grupo Fleury, and Lojas Renner.
