BPO, POGOs to drive office market’s growth this year

The country’s office market is expected to further grow this year on the back of the thriving business process outsourcing (BPO) industry and Philippine offshore gaming operators (POGOs). BPO companies occupied 30% of the total office take-up in Metro Manila last year while POGO firms took up 36%, according to Lobien Realty Group CEO Sheila Lobien.
Demand by these companies will continue to increase this year as the country’s IT-BPM industry is projected to have potential growth of up to 7%. Makati continues to emerge as the biggest district in terms of current office supply with a total of 2.4 million square meters, followed by Taguig with 2.1 million and Pasig with 1.2 million.
