BPO raises demand for accounting, HR jobs in Cebu

CEBU, PHILIPPINES — The rise of the Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) industry in Cebu helped increase the demand for accounting and human relations roles in the city.
According to Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI) President Kenneth Charles Co, some employees from other sectors are even transferring to BPO-related jobs to experience good working conditions and progress in their careers.
“Hospitals lack nurses because some are opting to work in high-paying BPO (business process outsourcing) jobs or leaving the country for better pay,” Co added.
The CCCI President encouraged employers to come up with competitive pay and a good working environment to attract the right workers who will join and stay for the long term in their company.
Co’s statement came as the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Region 7 announced an upcoming job fair in line during the Labor Day celebration on May 1, 2023.
2,838 jobs will be opened for job seekers, including roles for customer service support, admin and office associate, sales representative, store cashier, promoter, and store supervisor.
