BPOs keep pace amid Covid-19 threat

It’s business as usual for business process outsourcing companies in the Philippines even as the threat of coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) continues to affect other industries.
According to the IT-BPO Association of the Philippines (IBPAP), BPO firms are free to decide on work arrangements, including work-from-home policies, for workers to avoid the spread of the virus. The IBPAP, however, stressed that it is constantly monitoring the situation, even though there are currently no industry-wide disruptions in BPO work.
Most of the BPO companies in the country service clients offshore, particularly in the US, where there are already three confirmed Covid-19 infections. The IBPAP added that it has advised employees to take precautionary measures and seek help from licensed medical professionals if necessary.
