Cebu biz group urges BPOs to consider Central Visayas

MANILA, PHILIPPINES — Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI) President Charles Kenneth Co is encouraging global Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) firms to consider expanding to the rest of Central Visayas.
During a roundtable interview, Co revealed that CCCI is working on possible investments to create more jobs in the region. Among those is a possible technical-vocational workshop introducing new programs to upskill the region’s workers.
Co emphasized that, like Metro Manila, Cebu’s saturated BPO industry could put the province at risk of not having enough outsourcing employees.
“I guess for the rest of the Central Visayas, it is also right for BPOs,” he added.
Pursuing private and public partnerships is also being pushed to finance and sustain programs and projects in the region.
“The mayors… [want] a Singapore-like Cebu, actually. There are also a lot of opportunities there for both private and public partnership,” Co noted.
