Polish tech startup Britenet secures over $1Mn grant for AI tool

WARSAW, POLAND — The Warsaw-based technology company Britenet Med has secured a €1 million ($1,036,017) grant from EIT Health to advance their innovative mental health monitoring solution, MoodMon.

This AI-driven tool represents a major step forward in the management of chronic affective disorders, which affect approximately 280 million people worldwide.

Revolutionary mental health monitoring

MoodMon distinguishes itself through its sophisticated AI-powered monitoring system that analyzes behavioral data from mobile devices and wearables.

The system has demonstrated remarkable accuracy with a sensitivity rate of 89.5% and specificity of 98.83% in clinical trials. This technology provides real-time detection of mood changes, enabling immediate notification to patients, psychiatrists, and caregivers.

Strategic European collaboration

The project brings together prestigious institutions across Europe, including Spain’s Fundació de Recerca Clínic Barcelona, Sweden’s Karolinska Institute, and Poland’s Medigent Foundation. This collaboration aims to obtain CE certification and conduct extensive clinical trials to validate the technology’s effectiveness.

“Our mission with MoodMon is to transform the management of chronic affective disorders,” explained Małgorzata Sochacka, MoodMon originator and Product Manager at Britenet Med.

“By offering a first-in-class solution that leverages objective data for mental health monitoring, we aim to enhance patient outcomes, reduce healthcare costs, and enable professionals to allocate their time more effectively.”

The investment comes at a crucial time, as depression treatment costs range from €3,000 ($3,100) to €5,000 ($5,181) per patient annually, while bipolar disorder treatment averages nearly €7,000 ($7,253) per year per patient.

Britenet Med, founded in 2006 as a Polish IT consulting and outsourcing services company, has positioned itself as a pioneer in mental health technology through this innovative solution.

“MoodMon is a prime example of what can be achieved when innovative companies like Britenet Med come together with leading institutions to address major health challenges,” said Joanna Broy, EIT Health InnoStars Lead for Poland.

“This project showcases the power of cross-border partnerships in developing solutions that are not only innovative but also scalable and impactful.”
