Burnout pushes 1 in 4 UK tech pros to quit
UTAH, UNITED STATES — A survey by security firm Ivanti indicates that 25% of tech professionals in the United Kingdom (UK) are considering quitting within the next six months due to rising workloads and stress.
The study reveals that IT professionals are 30% or 1.4 times more likely to discreetly look for new opportunities without alerting their present employers. This trend could result in potential losses of an estimated £19 billion ($24.5 billion) for UK businesses.
Despite 84% of respondents wanting to continue some form of remote work post-pandemic, nearly a quarter reported feeling disconnected from colleagues.
The research also showed IT talent is 2.5x more likely to work longer hours when working remotely compared to in the office.
Ivanti CEO Jeff Abbott highlights the difficulties in retaining IT talent and suggests businesses adopt automation to alleviate IT workloads and enhance productivity.
Ivanti’s report is based on a survey of 8,400 UK executives, professionals, and office workers.
