Calian secures $23Mn military medical training contract

OTTAWA, CANADA — Calian Group, a provider of healthcare, communications, and cybersecurity solutions, has been awarded $23 million to boost Canadian Forces Health Services Group (CFHSG)’s training initiatives across Canada.
Calian will specifically provide comprehensive administrative, instructional, and courseware development solutions.
Bolstering critical training programs
The company’s work will strengthen essential training programs at military bases nationwide. This includes environmental medicine development, combat medical simulation, operational medicine, and dental practices.
The contract, valued at $17 million for three years with an option to extend for a fourth year.
The BPO firm will leverage its expertise in developing eLearning and distance learning platforms with the goal of boosting the operational readiness of the Canadian Armed Forces.
Calian Vice President of Defense Learning Jay Ballard said that a customized approach is essential to achieve maximum efficiency.
“Our comprehensive understanding of the CAF’s operational requirements, paired with our dual capabilities in health and training solutions, enables us to craft customized training solutions that precisely address the needs of each training program,” Ballard said.
Expanding IT and cyber capabilities with Decisive Group purchase
In December 2023, Calian completed its acquisition of Decisive Group, a provider of enterprise IT infrastructure and cybersecurity solutions, for CA$74.7 million (US$54 million). The acquisition plan was announced in November.
With expertise in managing and securing critical IT infrastructure for government and commercial clients, Decisive Group will fortify Calian’s IT and Cyber Solutions division.
The acquisition enables Calian to offer a more comprehensive suite of managed IT services while growing its presence in key North American markets like Ottawa, Toronto, and the United States.
