Call center jobs top Philippine vacancies

MANILA, PHILIPPINES — The Philippines’ Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) reported the top five job vacancies across the country from September 25-29, with call center agents leading at 4,508 openings.
DOLE’s Bureau of Local Employment (BLE) compiled the data from the Public Employment Service Office’s (PESO) Employment Information System (PEIS) and the government’s PhilJobNet portal.
According to the labor department, the high demand for call center agents highlights the Philippines’ robust Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) industry. Companies continue hiring Filipinos for their English proficiency, customer service skills, and cultural affinity with Western nations.
Other roles with the most job vacancies include production machine operators, executive assistants, production workers, and domestic helpers.
DOLE added that the vacancies for production workers and machine operators signal ongoing efforts to bolster domestic manufacturing. The government aims to reduce reliance on imports and create stable middle-class jobs.
Meanwhile, openings for executive assistants and domestic helpers reflect the service nature of the Philippine economy. The country supplies labor regionally and abroad in various service sectors.
While unemployment remains high, DOLE Secretary Bienvenido Laguesma said they are optimistic that more opportunities will open as the department intensifies its efforts to reconnect workers to available jobs.
