Capita extends Westminster City deal through 2028

LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM — Business process services provider Capita is extending its 29-year partnership with the Westminster City Council with a three-year contract extension worth £20 million (US$25.3 million).
The existing contract lasts through 2024, while the extension goes into effect in November 2025. Capita will continue to collect council tax and support the council tax reduction scheme for vulnerable households, collect business rates, manage housing benefits, deliver business improvement levy services, and provide associated customer management support.
According to Capita, it handles 200,000 calls from its partnership with Westminster yearly. This translates to £130 million (US$164.7 million) in council tax and £2 billion (US$2.5 billion) in business rates. Capita also processes £173 million (US$ 218.4 million) in housing benefits.
“Capita’s deployment of digital technology has contributed to improved performance across revenues collection, and housing benefit and council tax support administration, in Westminster,” said Dale Wood, regional director for Capita Local Public Service.
“We look forward to building on this through further development of our automation capabilities, as we help provide better integrated systems and enhance provision of data and insight.”
