Carenet Health named first SEZ operator in Trinidad & Tobago

TEXAS, UNITED STATES — Texas-based Carenet Health, a healthcare engagement solutions provider, has officially become the first company to operate under Trinidad and Tobago‘s new Special Economic Zone (SEZ) program.
This marks a significant step in Carenet’s expansion, utilizing advanced AI technology and operational excellence to transform global healthcare business solutions.
The new delivery center in Port of Spain, set to be fully operational by January 2025, leverages the English-fluent workforce and U.S. timezone alignment of Trinidad & Tobago.
This strategic location allows Carenet to enhance its service delivery worldwide. The facility will initially create 200 skilled positions, with plans for further expansion due to growing demand.
“Being recognized as the first SEZ-designated company in Trinidad & Tobago is both an honor and a reflection of Carenet’s commitment to transforming healthcare,” said Carenet Chief Operating Officer Christopher Rogers.
“This expansion allows us to strengthen our capabilities, invest in diverse talent, and deliver even greater results for our partners while staying focused on improving lives—one interaction at a time.”
Innovative solutions meeting industry challenges
The healthcare sector is increasingly complex and consumer expectations are higher than ever. Carenet’s approach aims to meet these challenges by delivering scalable and impactful solutions that enhance patient care and operational efficiency. The company’s innovative strategies are designed to help healthcare providers and payers achieve their goals and provide remarkable results at scale.
“We are proud to announce Carenet Health as the first recipient of SEZ designation in Trinidad & Tobago. This strategic partnership represents a pivotal advancement for the healthcare sector, driving substantial growth while fostering the creation of high-value employment opportunities,” noted Sekou Alleyne, President of Investments Division of the Trinidad & Tobago Trade & Investment Promotion Agency (InvestTT).
The SEZ initiative also offers substantial benefits, including a 15% corporate tax rate, import duty exemptions, and various tax waivers. This strategic move comes at a crucial time, as Trinidad & Tobago’s employment rate has declined by 4% during the first half of 2024.
