Chinese firm proposes new highway, tech projects in PH

MANILA, PHILIPPINES — Construction giant China Communications Construction Co. (CCCC) puts forward a new highway and industrial park project in the country following President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s state visit to China.
During a courtesy call, CCCC officials proposed the construction of the 270-km Laoag City-Rosario City Highway Project and the introduction of China’s Juncao technology to the Philippines.
The new ventures raised to the President will be done through public-private partnerships (PPP).
The CCCC added that they plan to build a Juncao Technology Demonstration Center and a Juncao Industrial Park for Juncao grass cultivation and processing, which, once approved, will be funded through Chinese foreign aid.
Aside from news of their new venture, CCCC also provided an update on its ongoing infrastructure projects in the country, including the Samal Island-Davao City Connector (SIDC) Project and North & South Harbor Bridge, among others.
Reacting to all of this news, President Marcos said that he is hoping that the CCCC could assist the Philippines in carrying out projects that ensure environmental sustainability in the midst of the threats posed by climate change.
