Cnect Wales launches free contact center training program

PENARTH, WALES — Cnect Wales, an industry-led employers’ forum for contact centers in Wales, recently unveiled a new Pre-Employment Skills Program aimed at preparing individuals for customer service advisor roles.
This initiative, which will run monthly until February 2025, is a collaborative effort with Cardiff City Council and is funded by the UK Government through the Shared Prosperity Fund and the Levelling Up Fund. It is also free for eligible candidates.
Bridging the skills gap with comprehensive training
As the only dedicated members forum for contact centers in Wales, Cnect Wales represents over 350 members, including Contact Centres, Shared Service Centres, and businesses with centralized functions. The organization offers a range of services to its members, from training and education to research and consultancy.
Sandra Busby, Managing Director of Cnect Wales, highlighted the program’s dual focus on tackling unemployment and upskilling individuals.
“We understand the challenges that both job seekers and employers face in the current economic climate. That’s why we’re excited to introduce our latest project service, Cnect Talent, aimed at addressing this issue,” Busby stated.
Hands-on training for work-ready talent
The week-long intensive training courses are designed to equip unemployed individuals with essential customer service skills. The curriculum covers effective communication techniques, handling difficult customers, and other key competencies needed to excel in a customer-centric environment.
Busby explained that the comprehensive one-week training program is designed to equip unemployed individuals with essential customer service skills.
“Covering everything from effective communication techniques to dealing with difficult customers, our training ensures that participants are prepared to excel in a customer-centric environment,” she noted.
Guaranteed job interviews and reduced unemployment
Upon completing the program, candidates are guaranteed an interview for a live job vacancy with employers. This initiative not only provides job seekers with valuable skills but also ensures that employers have access to a pool of work-ready talent.
Sandra added, “By working with community hubs, job centers, and other organizations, we’re building a pool of motivated individuals who, upon completion of the program, are ready to make a positive impact in the workplace from day one. Our members are getting access to work-ready talent and helping to reduce unemployment rates – it’s a win, win.”
