Cognizant, Anthropic partner to scale enterprise AI

NEW JERSEY and CALIFORNIA, UNITED STATES – In a move to accelerate the integration of artificial intelligence (AI), global technology services firm Cognizant is adopting Anthropic’s Claude AI models across its client services and internal operations.
In its press release, Cognizant notes that the partnership aims to help enterprises transition from limited AI pilots to full-scale deployment, while also deploying Claude to up to 350,000 Cognizant employees to enhance productivity.
“Enterprises are moving beyond simple productivity gains toward a more connected, agentic future,” said Ravi Kumar S, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Cognizant.
Why Cognizant chose Anthropic’s Claude
Cognizant is one of the outstanding international professional services firms dedicated to assisting customers in modernizing technology and transforming business processes.
The company’s major concentration on fields such as AI and software engineering means that its annual revenue of $19.7 billion reflects its ability to implement significant digital changes, which its new AI partner now reinforces.
Cognizant ranked #7 in the OA500 2025, an objective index of the world’s top 500 outsourcing companies.
The strategic decision aligns with its primary business mission, and its selected partner is Anthropic, a company specializing in foundational AI technology. Anthropic is a company that focuses on AI research and creating reliable and interpretable AI systems. Its most popular product is Claude, an AI assistant that can be used to perform tasks of any scale.
The research-based business philosophy of the company has focused on safety and stability, which makes Claude a reliable choice for hundreds of thousands of companies.
AI agents powering industry modernization
Cognizant intends to offer solutions that deliver quantifiable business results to its customers by incorporating Enterprise and Claude Code, both models developed by Anthropic, into its platforms. The program aims to help businesses move beyond the experimental phase and achieve production-level AI.
Key focus areas for client services include legacy modernization and specialized solutions for specific industries. Cognizant will combine its modernization frameworks with Anthropic’s code understanding capabilities to speed up the analysis and refactoring of large, outdated codebases.
“By pairing Anthropic’s Claude models and agentic tooling with Cognizant’s suite of platforms and industry expertise, we will help clients build the foundations of an agentified enterprise where intelligent systems collaborate with people to accelerate modernization, engineering and industry transformation,” Kumar explained.
Furthermore, the companies will develop vertical solutions, starting with financial services, using the Cognizant Agent Foundry with Claude to embed agentic workflows into regulated environments.
“The combination of frontier AI with deep domain expertise and implementation capabilities is what makes this partnership so exciting and will absolutely accelerate AI in the enterprise,” noted Paul Smith, Chief Commercial Officer of Anthropic.
Internal AI transformation at scale
A parallel and equally critical component of the initiative is the massive internal rollout of Claude to Cognizant’s global workforce.
This internal adoption is framed as a method to advance the company’s own AI maturity and serve as a leading example. As Smith notes, “Companies require trusted AI that combines cutting-edge performance with safety and reliability, which is why hundreds of thousands of businesses trust Claude.”
This move will focus on enhancing software engineering productivity and promoting responsible AI practices. Cognizant will deploy Claude and Claude Code with its Flowsource Platform to accelerate coding tasks, testing, documentation, and DevOps workflows.
This will be coupled with an emphasis on responsible AI, advancing practices for safe deployment and monitoring at scale to meet the needs of enterprise governance.
“Cognizant plans to engage clients through workshops, reference patterns, and platform integrations using Claude to help teams identify high-value use cases and move them into production to enable measurable outcomes,” Cognizant noted.
