Cognizant to acquire Astreya to boost AI managed services
NEW JERSEY, UNITED STATES — Cognizant has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Astreya, a San Jose-based AI-first IT managed services provider. The deal positions Cognizant to capitalize on a projected $6.7 trillion AI data center infrastructure buildout running through 2030, with global capacity expected to double in five years.
According to a press release, Astreya brings 25 years of operating history, a presence in more than 35 countries, and outcome-based managed services contracts with six of the “Magnificent Seven” hyperscalers, the deepest cluster of hyperscaler relationships any acquisition target could deliver.
A strategic bet on the AI infrastructure buildout
Astreya’s proprietary AI OpsHub platform, built around modules for readiness assessment, signal intelligence, analytics, and agentic automation, gives Cognizant a production-grade operations engine that already generates measurable client results.
The deal also brings Astreya’s Tech Innovation Office, bespoke AI solutions, and ecosystem partnerships anchored by Google Cloud Platform and ServiceNow into Cognizant’s global delivery infrastructure.
Financial terms were not disclosed, and the transaction is expected to close in the second quarter of 2026, subject to regulatory approvals.
“By acquiring Astreya and its proprietary AI tooling and production-grade infrastructure platform, which is complementary to Cognizant’s AI builder stack, we will be even better-positioned to help clients architect their platform-led AI systems and operationalize them at scale,” said Cognizant CEO Ravi Kumar S.
He noted that the five largest hyperscalers are expected to spend nearly $700 billion on infrastructure in 2026 alone.
Deepening hyperscaler reach and U.S. economic tailwinds
The acquisition expands Cognizant’s footprint inside hyperscaler environments where Astreya already manages data center infrastructure, AI lab environments, enterprise networks, and workplace technology.
With nearly a decade of consecutive outcome-based managed services delivery, Astreya provides Cognizant with hyperscaler-hardened talent and accelerators that can be deployed across its existing client base immediately.
Astreya’s clients, in turn, gain access to Cognizant’s global scale and industry breadth, expanding commercialization pathways for Enterprise AI Ops.
“AI data center investment is a critical path for future economic and job growth, especially in the U.S., where data centers and related high-tech investment activities were estimated to account for 80% of private domestic demand growth in the first half of 2025,” said Surya Gummadi, president of Cognizant Americas.
The deal underscores a broader consolidation wave in the outsourcing industry, where firms including Accenture, Infosys, and TCS are racing to absorb specialized AI infrastructure providers.
