Cognizant launches an EMEA AI unit for agentic AI

LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM — Cognizant has launched a dedicated EMEA AI Unit to help enterprise clients across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa move artificial intelligence (AI) deployments from pilots to production scale, introducing a three-tier “Frontier Deployed Engineering” model that sequences strategy, rapid deployment, and end-to-end workflow redesign.

The launch was announced in a press release as part of the company’s “AI Builder” strategy targeting enterprise clients that have completed AI pilots but have not yet scaled them to measurable business impact.

Frontier deployed engineering model sequences AI adoption from strategy through multi-agent production

The Frontier Deployed Engineering model operates in three tiers: Foundation covers strategy, governance, technology selection, and early prototypes; Accelerate identifies high-value use cases and deploys them to production; Transform deploys multi-agent delivery squads for end-to-end workflow redesign.

Cognizant cited two EMEA client examples: a European online fashion retailer using the AI factory model to compress development cycles from months to days, and a global pharmaceutical company deploying multi-agent systems across drug discovery, clinical trial design, and regulatory preparation.

The Foundation-Accelerate-Transform sequence addresses the specific gap where enterprise AI programs most commonly stall: organizations that have run successful pilots but cannot translate them into scaled deployments with repeatable, measurable business outcomes.

“The EMEA AI Unit reflects Cognizant’s AI Builder strategy by bringing together the people, platforms and engineering expertise needed to move clients from pilots to payoff,” said Manoj Mehta, President EMEA, Cognizant.

Platform-neutral EMEA unit addresses regional data sovereignty and regulatory requirements

The EMEA AI Unit is designed platform-neutral — working across cloud providers and AI model vendors rather than binding clients to a single technology stack — and addresses the data sovereignty and sector-specific regulatory requirements that distinguish European enterprise AI deployments from US and Asia-Pacific markets.

The EMEA launch extends Cognizant’s Frontier Workforce initiative — which targets 5,000 Certified Engineers and 10,000 Business Operators trained in AI tools by Q4 2026 — from workforce enablement into client-facing agentic AI delivery.

Cognizant reported $5.481 billion in Q2 2026 revenue at 4.5% year-on-year growth, with the EMEA AI Unit launch coinciding with the company’s expansion of AI partnerships with Anthropic (anthropic.com), Google Cloud, OpenAI, ServiceNow, and Snowflake in the same quarter.

A platform-neutral, regulatory-aware EMEA AI Unit positions Cognizant to serve the constraint European enterprises face specifically: AI deployments that must operate within data localization rules while still moving from prototype to production.

For enterprise technology buyers and BPO clients tracking how major information technology (IT) services providers are building AI delivery infrastructure, the Frontier Deployed Engineering launch marks Cognizant’s move from AI advisory into structured AI engineering — offering a defined path from pilot completion to production-scale agentic workflow redesign.
